Jasmine is one of three does we bought in the spring of 2022 from Camelot Cattle Company. Jasmine’s dam, Cataleya, has a strong, wide build with a lovely topline and rump. Her sire, Abraxan, scored a VVV87 as a yearling, with very goods in all major categories, and marked excellent in front legs. We certainly see those traits in Jasmine and her offspring.

Jasmine is an excellent milker. Her teats are the perfect shape and placement is easy, but could use correction. Jasmine has nice dairyness and good depth of chest. Her body maintains nice width throughout, but she does struggle to maintain weight through a lactation. Her rump is quite flat and wide scoring a 35 (6”) in linear appraisal. She’s proving herself an excellent brood doe and will be in our herd for many tears to come.

DHI Records

Jasmine met the * milker requirements for butterfat and protein, making her a 1*M, during her yearling lactation. While there are milk stars further back in her pedigree, her dam, Camelot Cattle Co Cataleya, is not in a herd that participates in DHIR, so Jasmine get’s to start back at one. Udder Photos

We’re (admittedly) not the most skilled at clipping and photographing udders. Please accept our apologies for the lack of skill in these areas, and know that we provide you with the best we’re capable of giving. If at any time you want current udder photos of a doe, just contact us.

~120 DIM, 1st Freshening

Her udderis a wonderful shape and we love its texture. We’re always as pleased with what she looks like empty as with what she looks like full. We’re excited to see what maturity does for her mammary!

~20 DIM, 2nd Freshening

This freshening saw more capacity and width to her rear udder. She came out of the gate with about 8lbs of milk a day and was on track to have an excellent lactation. Unfortunately she fell severly ill in late August and we were forced to dry her off to bring her back to health.

Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres

2023- Jasmine kidded buck/doe twins easily two days before her due date in May of 2023. Kids were 5.8lbs and 7.4lbs. Jasmine had no issues kidding, despite it being late at night. We did induce her kidding in order to make sure we were able to make some other plans we had in place near the time of her due date. She kidded 24 hours, exactly, after the first lutalyse shot. She showed zero signs of labor during evening feeding, but I went ahead and put her in the kidding stall anyway about 9:30pm and kept a good eye on her with our barn cameras as I finished my evening. I checked the cameras one more time about 10:45pm, before climbing in bed myself, and I couldn’t really see her in the frame but could hear her talking, so I went back to the barn. Jasmine had begun labor and already had the large buckling out and was cleaning him off. The doe kid followed quickly once I arrived in the kidding stall. Both were healthy and vigorous, and Jasmine hasn’t skipped a beat since. The buckling sold as grade at about a month old to a farm near Tulsa, OK. The doeling, Kansas Bluestem AM Tinkerbell, went to Lisa, of Fairly Farms, over in Arkansas. Jasmine’s lactation was nice and steady. We loved the way her udder took shape and her teats pulled down as her udder matured. Jasmine peaked at just under a gallon of milk a day, on an extremely hot day in an extremely dry summer. Due to our breeding schedule, we cut her 305 day lactation short by about 30 days, and while she easily met her butterfat and volume * milker requirements, she fell short of volume by about 2oo lbs.

2024- Jasmine kidded twin bucklings sired by PNP-Legacy Ralph Lauren one day past her due date. Again, both kids were of good size, averaging over 7.0lbs. This year her labor was natural and followed a normal progression, differing from the hard and fast labor of her first freshening. She milked well but unfortunately came down with a high parasite load and that was followed by a battle with pneumonia at about halfway through her lactation. We dried her off to aide in her recovery time.

2025- We repeated the breeding to PNP-Legacy Ralph Lauren this year, in hopes of getting a doe kid. Jasmine delivered twin does three days past her due date. One was the perfect keeper we wanted, and the other sold to a homestead in NW Oklahoma. Jasmine came into milk beautifully and appraised GVVE 87. Her udder really did look excellent! Our family schedule resulted in more sporadic milking times than typical for us through the spring of 2025, which had a negative impact on her overall production. She milked strongly until we dried her off at 263 days in milk.

2026- Jasmine was bred to Camelot Cattle Co Thidwick this year and delivered two doe, one buck triplets two days past her due date. (We’re noticing a pattern… she likes to go long!) Unfortunately, we lost the buckling due to complications from disbudding, but both doelings were offered for sale with registration. Again, she’s come into milk beautifully and we’re looking forward to maintaining a steady schedule to maximize her production this year.

Pedigree Behind Her

DSD- SG Camelot Cattle Co Mischief, 4*M

Mischief appraised EX 90 (VVEE) in 2019 at three years old. She has a career lactation record of 4,261 lbs in prodcution on her 5th lactation, for the year of 2022. She’s a multi-time ELITE doe and has been on the Top Ten list every year since 2019. We’re thrilled to have her genetics in our barn!

DSS- GCH Sweet-Spring Calvin Klein +*B

DSSS- GCH Kastdemur’s Time in a Bottle ++*B

SS- SGCH Wingwood Farm Finding Atlantis ++*B

Atlantis is extremely tall, long smooth and stylish, according to his breeder. He is very angular and open, with great smoothness of blending. His daughters show improved dairyness, and overall general appearance, without losing the ability to milk well.

SD- SGCH Wingwood Farm Lucky Altima 2*M

According to her breeder/owner, “Altima is one of our most balanced does. She excels in general appearance with strong feet and legs, a smoothly blended front end and nearly ideal breed character. She is very angular and dairy with an extremely well attached mammary system. She is also a very good milker milking over 2500 lbs even with single kids. In 2019 she had a stellar year in the show ring placing 3rd at the national show.”
