Harley comes to us late in her life, as a coming eight year old doe. She’s already achieved her best, and we’re just hoping that she has a little left to give us in daughters and sons. Bred and raised by Michelle DeLong, of Camelot Cattle Company, the detailed information Michelle has compiled on her is the best place to see Harley’s achievements… here.
We weren’t shopping for goats when Michelle asked us if we’d be interested in bringing Harley into our herd, but we couldn’t say no. Harley achieved making the Top Ten list in 2021, producing 3,490 pounds of milk with 126 pounds of butterfat and 119 pounds of protein. How could anyone turn down that production, combined with a 91 LA score at six years old? The Camelot genetics are a foundation of our herd, and Harley is no exception… we’re hoping for multiple daughters and sons to carry on her legacy.
Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres
2026- We bred Harley to Kansas Bluestem MGF Inferno this year, once we had her AS1C results back. This cross gave us the best chance at an AS1C N/N offspring to add to our low casein side project. She began to show early signs of ketosis about 15 days to her due date, being slightly off feed and starting to show soreness on her feet. Since she was still early stage, we decided to try a newer treatment on her, drenching her with 200mL of red table wine twice a day, every day. This immediately brought improvement in her gait and increased her appetite by day three. We were very pleased! However, about four days before her due date, her ketosis signs started to show again, despite the twice daily wine drenches. Since she was so close to her due date, we gave an induction protocol, and Harley delivered healthy triplets on January 31, 2026. One buck kid has been tested as AS1C N/N and will be a junior herdsire with us for a time. The doeling is also retained but has not been AS1C tested yet. The second buck kid was sold to Triple Hearts Ranch in Palestine, TX.
