Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a farm store that’s open to the public for shopping?
No, we don’t have an on-farm store at this time. It’s in the works, though! For now, if you are interested in farm products, like goat milk, goat cheese, duck eggs, goat milk soap (bar & liquid) or goat milk lotion, please us the form on our Contact Us page and we’ll schedule a time for you to pick up your products.
How long will my raw goat milk stay good in the refrigerator?
Most customers drink it before it has a chance to spoil, but our standard answer is 10-14 days, depending on the temperature of your refrigerator. Keep unopened jars in the coldest part of your fridge for the longest life.
Can I freeze the fresh milk and use it later?
Absolutely! Use a really clean container and leave some head space, then freeze. The fresher it is when you freeze, the longer the life after thawing. We recommend thawing in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and flavor. Sometimes there are small fat clumps present after thawing. These can be broken up using an immersion blender if you’d like.
Can you deliver milk to me or meet me in town for pickup?
We are unable to make milk (or milk product sales) at any location other than our farm due to Kansas State laws. State Statute K.S.A. 65-792 permits the on-farm sale of raw milk and milk products that are appropriately labeled. However, the transaction must be on the farm and it must be between the dairyman and the consumer. The milk container must be labeled as "raw" or "unpasteurized-ungraded" milk. For more information see this page.
If I am a regular milk customer, and want to change my standard pickup amount or time, can I do that?
Yes, we can accommodate changes. If you’d like to decrease your pickup amount, please give us 12 hours notice. If you’d like to increase your pickup amount, give us as much notice as possible so we determine how best to increase your pickup amount and still meet needs of other customers, plus goat kids. Usually, 48 hours notice is adequate for increases.
If you’d like to change your pickup day or time, just ask. We can usually shift you around easily, but it will be dependent on milk availability.
I want a dairy goat but I don’t want to pay for registration. Will this get me a discount on an animal from you?
There are some animals we will sell without papers, but any discount would only be equal to the cost of the registration fees, if they are not yet registered. Mature stock that has already been registered will not be discounted if a buyer does not want to purchase a registered animal. In very rare instances, we will opt to sell a mature animal without registration due to a quality concern. Those animals will be sold at a significantly lower rate than one we would offer with registration.
Do you offer discounts to youth members or 4-H kids?
If you are an active ADGA Youth member who will be campaigning the animal you purchase from us in the show ring, or participating in other ADGA performance programs (DHIR and Linear Appraisal), we can discuss a discount. Typically, instead of a discount, we offer free driveway breeding to doe kids purchased from us by ADGA youth members. Terms and conditions apply, and are discussed at time of sale.
For active 4-H participants that are not ADGA Youth members, we offer free driveway breedings to does purchased from us, so long as the doe has not been exposed to bucks we do not know, and a clean disease panel can be provided (CAE, CL & Johnes).
Can you explain more about your buckling trade-in program?
Each year, we have a few breedings that we are really excited about, where we’d consider keeping a buck kid from if space allowed. Sometimes, we don’t have space in the buck pen, or a perfect home shows interest in the buckling instead. In those instances, we offer a trade-in agreement to the buyer. The buckling is purchased outright from us, and goes with an agreement that the healthy, mature buck (4 years of age or younger) with a clean disease panel, can be traded back in to us for a buckling from a future year, at no additional cost. For the first buckling, we cover all registration, transfer and DNA fees, just as we would on a standard buckling sale. Mature bucks that are traded back in to us become our property and we are free to use them or sell them, depending on the needs of our breeding program at the time. Some buyers choose to continue selecting bucklings we’d like to have back in our program one day and use the trade-in programs as an opportunity to buy one buck and never have to pay for a buck again- registration, DNA and transfer fees of subsequent bucklings selected are the responsibility of the buyer. Some buyers elect to only participate in the trade-in program one time.
