Glitter is Kathryn’s first doe, and they have become quite the pair in showmanship. Glitter’s pedigree isn’t anything spectacular, but she’s turning into a beautiful doe with a very productive mammary. As a yearling, Glitter peaked near 8.0 pounds per day, but fell just short of hitting her * volume requirement, as she dried herself off really quickly after being bred in the fall. Glitter is often commended in the show ring for her excellent breed character and depth of body. We hope to improve teat structure and front end assembly in her offspring.
Glitter met her *M requirements in Butterfat and Protein but fell just short of volume in her yearling lactation, in 2024. She easily met requirements of all three categories in her second lactation, despite it only being 252 days long. Linear Appraisal Data
2025: Glitter appraised GGGG 82 as a second freshening 2 years old, less than a month into her lactation. She received “Goods” in all structural categories, except rear legs where she received an “Acceptable” due to lacking length from her thurl to her stifle. Our appraiser noted that she still appeared very immature and that she would likely improve overall with maturity, noting that major improvement could be made by increasing depth overall (chest and v-shape) and improving teats to better show her udder capacity in a globular udder shape, rather than poorly delineated teats.
Udder Photos
We’re (admittedly) not the most skilled at clipping and photographing udders. Please accept our apologies for the lack of skill in these areas, and know that we provide you with the best we’re capable of giving. If at any time you want current udder photos of a doe, just contact us.
May 2024
~60 DIM, 1st Freshening
Glitter’s udder has excellent texture, but her teats are massive and she lacks strong foreudder attachment and extension. We hope to improve teat size and shape, and foreudder attachment in her daughters..

Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres
2024- Glitter delivered twin bucklings with A LOT of assistance after being induced for three days before her due date. We chose to induce her so Kathryn could be present for the delivery. Glitter cut the deadline close and didn’t deliver until almost 8:00pm. Both boys presented head only, with front legs back, and due to their size (~7 pounds each), it was difficult to get them out. As a result, Glitter was quite sore for a few days, but came into milk beautifully, peaking at 8 pounds soon after freshening. She milked consistently through the year, but dried herself off quickly after being bred in the fall. We milked her for as long as possible, but she fell just short of her volume requirements to earn her milk *.
2025- Glitter was bred to Over the Moon KUL Apollo for early March kids. She kidded twin bucks after being induced to kid two days early. Her delivery was easiest than her first freshening, but there was still an issue of malposition in the first kid. Kids were a decent size, weighing almost exactly the same amount, averaging 6.75 pounds. Glitter came into milk really well and peaked production at just over 9.5 pounds per day. She continued milking well through the fall, and was dried off in November, in preparation for her January 2026 kidding.
2026- Glitter was bred to Food4Thought MardiGras Flasher. She kidded buck/doe twins near the end of January. Kathryn was thrilled to finally get a doe kid and quickly claimed her for her own. The buckling was used as Kathryn’s dairy wether for 4-H. Glitter’s udder is holding up nicely and is still well attached. Her capacity continues to increase, and her peak milk for her third lactation was near 10.5 pounds per day. She maintains low SCC numbers, we think because of her extremely small orifices. Orifice size and teat shape are definitely things on the “needs improvement” list for Glitter, and we hope her daughter, Sprinkles, excels in those areas.
